Your Rights At Work: new workplace laws

This week, on 1 July, workers around the country will be celebrating the end of the Howard Government’s radical WorkChoices laws. These laws attacked workers and their rights to collectively bargain like no other laws before them had done.

Hundreds of thousands of workers around the country, including thousands of QPSU members, campaigned to get rid of these radical anti-worker laws. The Your Rights at Work campaign was the largest mobilisation of workers this country has seen, and is an important demonstration of the power that we have as workers if we stick together and campaign publicly and actively.

The QPSU's Your Rights at Work Heroes campaign was an important part of this effort - and it certainly made the difference to the election results in Queensland.

Union members have brought fairness back into the system for the benefit of workers today and generations of workers to come.

We will be posting pictures from the trip - check back here for updates later in the week.
