About: Looking forward

QPSU members are continuing to build better working lives through being active in their union.
- Health Practitioners in Queensland Health fought a four-year battle for recognition, improved student supervision arrangements, and a completely new career structure.
- The QPSU has pioneered the Climate Heroes initiative in partnership with conservation groups, with hundreds of members uniting to help make our state and our government more sustainable.
- QPSU members led a multi-union campaign across the public sector for a fair wages increase. We overturned the state government's initial wages offer in favour of the best wages outcome the core Queensland public sector has ever seen under collective bargaining.
All of these achievements are the result of union members coming together at their workplaces with support from union delegates and the union office. The collective power of union members supporting each other can win real change even against tough odds.
We're not resting on our achievements though: workers know that maintaining and implementing workplace wins is just as important a task as gaining them in the first place.
To get the best possible results for members, it's important that everyone gets to have a say. That's why the QPSU remains committed to empowering workers to have a direct say on the issues that affect them at their workplace.
This means that members in the departments or agencies concerned are able to make the key decisions about union operations in their area.
Only then we will be able to grow our strength and continue to win huge victories like we have over the last few years.
Strong workplace structures are one of the most important aspects of a successful union. Find out more ways to get involved in your union by clicking here.
