About: Introduction

We are the QPSU, an organisation of over 30,000 Queensland workers striving to improve our working lives and deliver quality public services to all Queenslanders.
From scientists, technicians and health professionals, to child protection and disability support workers, to janitor-groundsmen, environmental protection workers, TAFE teachers, prison officers and many other jobs, our members support Queensland communities every day in hundreds of different ways.
As well as all state government departments, our members come from private pathology services, universities, and statutory authorities like WorkCover Queensland.
The QPSU is a strong, active union, where all members have a voice in improving their workplaces.. Click Here to join the QPSU.
QPSU members campaign on many different issues. We have fought for the rights of public sector workers to employment permanency, fair wages, and a safe climate for the future.
As well as improving our workplaces, being part of the QPSU allows us to campaign for quality public services in Queensland - whether it's improving Queensland Health, getting more resources for child protection workers, or fighting off the threat to contract out jobs in our state schools.

As well as fighting for better conditions, QPSU members have united to deliver quality services. As well as calling on a network of union delegates, all financial members can receive advice, support or representation by calling 1800 177 244. Members get access to the Union Shopper discount service, and are entitled to free and discount legal services from three different quality law firms (see here for details)
Legal insurance cover is provided to custodial corrections officers and other eligible workers, such as therapists in Queensland Health and other departments (see here for details or contact 1800 177 244).
The official journal of the QPSU is Public Sector Voice, delivered free to all members. Back editions of PSV are available online.
Our union is affiliated to the Queensland Council of Unions, and federally to the Australian Council of Trade Unions.
