About: Women's Committee

The QPSU Women's Committee is elected biennially from the QPSU Council and Executive.

The aims of the QPSU Women's Committee are to advance the wages and conditions of women in the public sector to improve their quality of working life, and to develop and propose modifications to union policies relevant to women in the public sector.

A key role and objective of the Committee is to improve the recruitment and retention of women in the QPSU, and to increase the activism of women as union workplace delegates and in all levels of our union.

In undertaking these roles, the QPSU Women's Committee strives to celebrate and reward the involvement and achievements of women in unions.

Activities organised by the Women's Committee each year include:

• International Women's Day lunch (6 March) with a guest speaker
• Participation of 2 women activists in the Anna Stewart project for 2 weeks
• Nominating an outstanding woman activist to receive the Emma Miller Award
• Organising and hosting the annual QPSU Women's Conference.
