better workplaces, better future
Being part of a union means being committed to a better future.
Through history, Australian union members have always come together to meet the big challenges to our future prosperity.
One of the biggest challenges for our future, both in Australia and worldwide, is climate change.
When surveyed, over 80% of QPSU members said that addressing climate change was a priority for them.
That’s why the QPSU, supported by the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF), is proud to launch the Climate Heroes campaign.
We strongly believe that every level of government, and every sector of society, needs to be active in fighting this threat to our future.
The QPSU and the ACF will be working together because that is how we will meet the challenge of climate change – through collaboration between individuals, between organisations, and between governments.
We want to educate our community about climate change – about the risks, about the need for action, and most importantly, about how we as individuals can make small but important changes to how we live, to create a better future.
Something as simple as checking up on what type of paper is used in your office printer, or whether you use energy-efficient lightbulbs in your home, makes a measurable positive impact. When we get together to ask others to help, we extend that impact even further.
That’s why today we’re asking you to sign up as a Climate Hero.
It’s easy to sign up – just visit the Get Involved section of this web site, email climate@qpsu.org.au, or phone 3017 6164.
Use the links above you can accesss some important information about climate change from the ACF, which has been a strong voice for the Australian environment for more than 40 years.
On 8:00pm on Monday 31 March, we’re asking all QPSU members to participate in Earth Hour – CLICK HERE for more details.
I urge you to become a Climate Hero so that you can help to create a healthy, prosperous future for all Australians.
