Climate Heroes - where to from here

Dear Climate Heroes

Happy New Year! Let's start the year with a burning desire to change our climate future and celebrate Australia Day as well as helping our environment. We hope you're all well rested and ready for a great 2009.

Signs up for our National Icons!

The first Climate Heroes mission for 2009 is to join the Australian Conservation Foundation in choosing a favourite national icon - our beaches, the Great Barrier Reef, the Murray Darling basin or of course the great Australian backyard! Whichever is your favourite (and you can add to the list!)

Choose one that matters to you and you want to send a message to our politicians about - the ACF are encouraging people all over the country to hold sustainable BBQs celebrating the special places we love and want our kids to experience - and in the process let the Rudd Government know we haven't given them permission to give up on these special places. As a Climate Hero you can be part of this great initiative!

Are you having a get together on Australia Day Weekend?

Great! Dedicate a small amount of time to getting a sign up in front of your friends and family and with faces that show how concerned you are and take a photo of the group to send a message to our Prime Minister - we didn't give him permission to give up on our Australian icons. We can let our government know we haven't given up on our great country - neither should they!

After the weekend...

Be sure to let us know how your photo shoot went by emailing in your photo to climate@qpsu.org.au. Remember this year we will also need to let our Queensland state pollies know about the mood as they go to the polls in 2009.

So, if you're planning an Aussie day get together, why not dedicate it to future generations.
