Climate Connector training

The seriousness of the climate crisis that we face is starting to hit home around the country. The cost of extreme climate events in economic terms is unsustainable; and in human terms shocking. The lead up over the next few months to the climate change conference in Copenhagen is going to be vital if we are to stop the climate crisis.

That is why in partnership with Australian unions and the ACF we are expanding our successful Climate Heroes program nationwide, as Union Climate Connectors.

You have no doubt heard of The Climate Project - Australia, Al Gore's global climate change leadership program. As a Climate Hero, you now have a great opportunity to be involved in the next phase of the nationwide Climate Connectors campaign.

Our Climate Heroes program was so successful, it was recognised not only by the Queensland government’s climate change strategy, but also the UN – which emailed our office to ask if they could use the term “Climate Heroes” as the theme for their international climate change day activities!

In July, Al Gore visited Australia to train over 260 volunteers from diverse backgrounds who have been presenting around the country on the science, impacts of and solutions to the climate crisis. Now they need your help.

The Union Climate Connector trainings will be a great opportunity to:

• Meet other Union Climate Connectors who share your interests;
• Get the latest info on climate change from an Al Gore trained presenter;
• Receive a copy of your own Climate Connectors slideshow that you can share with workmates, friends and family.

Our first training will be held in Brisbane on Tuesday, September 22. We'll have one at 1.30pm and another at 6pm.
