HP Update

7 October 2009

Union HP Celebrations Are Underway

Our special Union HP Celebrations are in full swing, with health practitioners, both QPSU members and non-member colleagues, turning out in good numbers at gatherings in Queensland's south east.

If you haven't heard already, we are taking time to celebrate the end of a hard fought, 4 year campaign that has delivered real improvements and is helping to build better lives for all health practitioners in QHealth.

The focus of our win is our new HP Agreement that has brought Health Practitioners together, created a brand new career structure and ensured HPs expertise is finally recognised.

If you've got a moment you may like to review the last 4 years of our campaign here http://qpsu.org.au/hp/downloads/091103_celebration_doc.pdf.

Our HP Agreement is Delivering Real Benefits For Members

It's great to know that health practitioners are enjoying real benefits thanks to our Health Practitioners' Agreement and the hard work of all our members who helped to negotiate our HP classifications.

That's all thanks to the hard work of HP union members who dedicated their time and skills to Work Level Evaluation Panels and the Work Level Evaluation Teams.

You may have already seen our special Union HP Celebrations Pack that includes a 4 year campaign overview, plus a snapshot of some HP wage and job classification translations.

You can see how a range of HPs are benefiting from the HP agreement here http://www.qpsu.org.au/hp/downloads/091103_wage_info_doc.pdf.

HP Classifications and Backpay

All HPs that will be reclassified will receive backpay in December for the period 1 September 2007 to 2 November 2009 this year.

Employees will be progressively moved to their new levels between now and March 2010.

This means that there will be a second period of backpay next year.

Employees will receive notification of the result of their individual evaluation at the end of November.

All HPs will be receiving details about the HP Classifications appeals in the individual evaluation notifications that will be sent to staff by Queensland Health.

Union HP Celebration Gatherings Are Underway - And You're Invited!

During Union HP Celebrations, we are inviting all health practitioners to get together and celebrate their win. A schedule of events follows so you can pencil your local event in your diary and we will keep you informed about locations for more HP Celebration Week gatherings as details come to hand.

Already, BBQs have been held at both the Logan and Gold Coast Hospitals, with union members inviting their non-union colleagues along to bask in the warm glow of the HP Agreement.

At Logan, HPs turned out for a catch up and to collect a bite to eat on Wednesday November 4, despite 35 degree temps.

Ah, the joys of November in Queensland!

Health workers in Queensland's tropical north will be firing up the BBQs for their special gatherings later this month.

It would be great if you could 'set an alarm' so you can get along to one of the following local events!

Hope we see you there!

You Can Organise Your Own Local HP Celebration Gathering Today!

Many thanks to those members who've already expressed interest in organising a local Union HP Celebration gathering.

It's really easy to organise your own Union HP Celebration gathering and if you are interested in making this a reality for all your local union members and non-member HPs - that's great. We can hook you up with your local HP 'How To' guide and email you a step by step guide to help you make your local get-together a success.

Simply email hp@qpsu.org.au and we'll connect you to your local HP 'How To Guide' and send you a Union HP Celebration info pack which includes posters for the day, some other HP info documents and membership forms.

You may also like to jump online and download the very latest HP documents to share with your union colleagues and non-members - you'll find them at http://www.qpsu.org.au/hp/news_update_091103.htm

You may like to share pics of your local HP event with everyone - simply email your digipix to HP@qpsu.org.au.

All QPSU members are taking a moment to update their contact details.

Why?

Because this is vital given that many of our members are regularly shifting work locations. Additionally, many of our members have relocated following this year's machinery of government changes.

You can update your contact details here http://www.qpsu.org.au/eunion/details.php#

Keep an eye out - a special Union HP Celebration info pack is on the way.
