QPSU Schools notice: Have your say

QPSU members in schools all across the state have been gathering together to have their say about what our union will fight for in Schools Collective Bargaining '09. With a huge budget deficit on the horizon and a State Election just around the corner, it is more important now than ever that we are at the ready - ready to fight to protect what we have already won and ready to fight for the things that will improve our working lives into the future.  Thank you to all those members who have organised and attended meetings - the feedback is great.

It has been decided to reschedule the Schools Collective Bargaining Conference that was to be held on the 23rd March 2009.  The conference will now be held on the 27th April 2009.  This decision has been made to give schools based staff more time to complete the 'Have your say' meetings and for the results of these meetings to be collated and circulated to delegates before the conference.  It will also mean that the result of the State election will be known and we will have had time to prepare for any changes in the negotiating environment should there be a change of Government.

As the conference has been rescheduled, this means that there is more time to hold 'Have your say' meetings in your school. So, if you haven't yet had a meeting in your school it's not too late. Simply register online at  www.qpsu.org.au/schools09 and we will send you a kit. Feedback from the 'Have your say' meetings is now required to be sent back to the union office by 5pm Thursday 9th April 2009.

Thanks again to those members who have held meetings and provided feedback, your efforts to date have enabled the views of members in your area to be heard in this important campaign.
