Education Update: Core EB Information Sessions
All education staff are invited to attend an important information session as part of a statewide consultation process following Core EB negotiations.
These information sessions are being conducted throughout Queensland by the Department of Education and Training in conjunction with the QPSU.
It's important that you attend one of the following meetings if possible.
Each session will clearly illustrate just exactly what the Core EB negotiations mean for you and the meetings are endorsed by the Department.
The current schedule of meetings follows, which you may well have seen on your discussion lists' email last week.
It will be great to see you at one of the meetings, which provide a crucial forum where you can ask questions of the department or one of our Union representatives on the spot regarding any items that have been agreed. Together, we can also discuss where we need to progress from here.
The outcomes from this round of negotiations have been a great win for our members in education, especially when it comes to wages.
Together, we have won 4.5% for the first year, then 4.0% for the next two years, or $34 a week, whichever is greater.
Additionally, the government has agreed to apply the first pay rise of the new agreement - 4.5% backdated to 1 August - administratively.
This will ensure education staff get the first pay rise prior to formal Core EB certification, which is likely to be delayed while questions surrounding the Department of Transport and Main Roads are resolved.
It's important that we discuss needs to be done to ensure we maximise the outcomes of our Core EB, which has been confirmed by a vote of Core staff.
