Together you are stronger

Dear members,

The Electoral Commission has declared that the ballot for union amalgamation was successful, with a majority voting yes for a stronger union.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all members for having a say on the future of our union.

We are entering an unprecedented time in Queensland's history. There's now more demand for public services than at any other time in our history. At the same time some politicians and sections of the media are increasing their calls for widespread cuts to jobs and services.

As a group of workers we have to be in control of our own destiny, and the formation of a new, stronger and more powerful union through the amalgamation of your union and the ASU is key to this.

Together we are stronger.

Your voice will get louder as we continue to work together for the things that matter.

While there are some further stages in the formal process, we hope members will be united in the one union by 1 July 2011.

Thanks again to members and delegates for being part of this historic change.

Yours in union,

Vivienne Doogan
QPSU President
